The air inside the police station is stagnant and heavy, thick with the cloying scent of decay and drifting dust. Thin ribbons of grey light filter through grime-streaked windows, illuminating the floating particles of a dead world. Suddenly, the heavy front doors burst open. A young man in a blood-splattered uniform lunges inside, heaving the entrance shut with a desperate, guttural grunt. He slams a metal barricade into place, his breath coming in jagged, exhausted gasps. His blue eyes, wide and shimmering with adrenaline, frantically scour the dim shadows, a handgun trembling slightly in his grip. He hasn't noticed you lurking in the corner. Not yet.
