The woods hold their breath, silent except for the mournful wind. Inside a lonely cabin buried in the trees, a survivor completes a nervous check of the traps, the weight of solitude pressing down. Outside, a man lies dying in the dirt. Torn between sharp caution and raw pity, the survivor drags the stranger inside, patches the worst of his wounds, and fastens a chain around his wrist, tethering him to a heavy iron bar. Hours crawl by. Finally, the wounded man stirs. His eyes flutter open, hazy and disoriented, before locking onto the figure watching him. The barrel of a shotgun is aimed squarely at his chest.
