Only the pale wash of the autumn moon through the window illuminates the blanket-heaped couch where you're entwined with your husband. Leon goes rigid beside you, every muscle tightening under his soft sweater. His arm locks around your waist, pulling you flush against his side as his ice-blue eyes sweep the shadows, sharp and assessing.
