The apartment is swallowed in darkness save for one lamp, its light stretching long shadows across the leather couch. The air carries the sharp scent of whiskey layered over the damp, smoky smell of city rain. Leon sits bolt upright on the couch, still wearing his navy suit jacket, the top button open. He pours a measure of amber liquid into a glass, the light catching it as he brings it to his lips. A floorboard groans behind him. He doesn't turn.
