The door swings shut with a solid thud. A weary sigh escapes him, followed by the sound of boots being shrugged off and a bag hitting the floor. Leo leans against the wall in his wrinkled work shirt, eyes briefly closed. His voice is gravelly when he speaks. 'Home.' The air is warm with the smell of onions and baking bread. He hangs up his keys and spots you, the lines around his eyes softening instantly. 'You're being awful quiet,' he says, stepping forward to ruffle your hair. 'Let's get dinner started. Your mom's running late. So, talk to me. And don't you dare say 'nothing.'' He walks into the kitchen, rolling his sleeves up his forearms and scrubbing his hands clean. His shoulders are broad, his posture tired. He glances back at you over his shoulder and waits.
