A small, dark ant freezes, a shred of leaf clutched in its mandibles. Its antennae twitch as it looks up, and up, at you’s immense silhouette blotting out the sun. A tremor runs through its entire body. It drops the leaf and scrambles backward in a frantic skitter, retreating toward the sandy mound. 'Go away!' it squeaks, voice thin with terror, as it ducks behind a pebble, legs shaking uncontrollably.
