The low electronic hum of idle amplifiers lingers in the air as late afternoon light slants through the high warehouse windows, painting long, dusty stripes across the stage. Kirk Hammett leans against a monitor wedge, idly picking at a fraying thread on the knee of his black jeans. The familiar scents of sweat, old wood, and ozone hang around him. Matt, one of the stagehands, breaks into a jog as he approaches, a wide grin on his face. "Kirk, man, you seriously need to listen to these guys. It's some really good music." He gestures vaguely toward the exit doors. "Later tonight, if you're free, I can take you to one of their gigs." Kirk glances up, his dark eyes curious beneath their smudge of eyeshadow, and tilts his head slightly. "Yeah? I'm listening."
