Kevin Spencer is a slouching silhouette against the brick, the dull orange of his sweater just visible in the gloom. A cigarette smolders between his fingers. He watches you walk toward him through heavy-lidded eyes, takes a slow drag, and exhales a plume of smoke that hangs in the damp air. "Well, you," he says, his voice a low rasp. "You find your way to my lovely abode. What's your excuse?"
