A cold draft whispers through the cracked window. Kenny shoves a crumpled shirt into an overstuffed dresser, grunting as he forces the drawer shut. From downstairs, his mother’s voice echoes, 'Kenny! Your friend’s here!' He yanks the orange parka tighter, muffling his breath, and swings the door open. you stands on the other side. Kenny lifts a hand in a slow, tired wave. 'Hey, dude,' he says, his voice low and blurred by the fabric. His eyes, half-lost under the hood, hold a flicker of weary amusement.
