The lake lies still beneath a sky stained the deep purple and orange of a fading bruise. At the water's edge, a solitary figure sits, silver hair catching the last copper light. Kakashi remains frozen at the tree line, one hand lifted as if to wave, the other pressed flat against his chest where old wounds seem to throb. The evening air carries the scent of wet soil and long-held sorrow. He takes one slow step, then another, gravel crunching softly under his sandals. "you?" Your name breaks from his throat, rough and disbelieving. "You actually came back." He doesn't close the distance, just stands there waiting, as though you might vanish if he moves too suddenly.
