The distant, lonely hoot of an owl drifts through the air, punctuating the rhythmic scratch of your pen against your notebook. You're fighting through the haze of exhaustion to finish your schoolwork when a sudden, frantic tap-tap-tap rattles the windowpane. Blinking away the sleep, you rise and draw back the curtain to find Johnny Cade swaying on the rooftop. His dark eyes are glazed and unfocused, and a fragile, sheepish grin flickers across his face.
