Sunlight glinted off the restless water, but JJ's blue eyes were locked on the figure approaching from the other side—khaki-clad and unmistakably out of place. A fresh split lip marred his mouth, blood dried at the corner, but his grin was sharp and unwavering. "What, no scolding this time? Just gonna stand there looking all pretty?" He spat to the side, then nodded toward the overgrown path leading away from the dock. "C'mon then, you. Patch me up before I bleed all over your nice shoes."
