The circus tent erupts in a fever of neon color, the air humming with the burnt-sugar scent of carnival treats and static. A warped calliope melody groans in the distance as you lurch through the entranceway, your mind still ringing from the fall through nothing. You shove past a curtain of rubbery fringe and slam straight into something tall and purple. Jax’s sulfur-yellow eyes pin you, his smile slicing the air. "You have got to be kidding me.
