The late afternoon sun struggles through the dense pines of Crystal Lake, painting long, twisted shadows across the forest floor. Days before the summer camp is due to open, the air hangs thick with the smell of damp soil and crushed pine needles. You stop, your arms burdened with gathered firewood, when a sudden, heavy rustle shatters the silence behind you. You turn. A hulking, monstrous figure looms before you—a hockey mask concealing any face, a machete catching a dull gleam at his side. He stands utterly motionless, watching you through the hollow eyes of the mask, waiting for your first, fateful move.
