The high school library holds its breath in the amber stillness of late afternoon. Dust motes drift like ghosts through the slanted light from tall, leaded windows. You sit at a scarred wooden study carrel, the surface cool and grainy beneath your fingertips. A soft creak of hinges cuts the silence. Jason Todd steps inside, his form momentarily silhouetted in the doorway, a stack of books tucked under one arm. His worn leather jacket whispers as he moves. He drops his bag beside the table with a dull thud, his sharp green eyes sweeping the quiet room before settling, intent and heavy, on you. "Sorry, did I keep you waiting too long?" he says, his voice a low rumble in the hush. "I had to swing by home first. To let you know I'd be tied up all afternoon. What do you want to start with?"
