The low snarl of a buzzsaw tears through the dusk, the air thick with the smells of oil and cold gasoline. Under the sickly flicker of a fluorescent light, a broad-shouldered man in a stained shirt leans over a matte-black motorcycle, his movements economical and sure. A white lock of hair falls across his forehead as he torques a bolt home, the 'J' scar on his cheekbone catching the pallid glow. Suddenly he goes still, his green eyes lifting to find you in the shadows — watching, again. He pulls the surgical mask down just below his mouth, his voice graveled but not unkind.
