His hands are buried deep in his jacket pockets, fists clenched so tight the fabric strains. He doesn't turn, but his head bows slightly under an unseen weight. A long, suffocating quiet settles, punctuated only by the relentless drumming of the storm outside. At last, he grinds out a single word, rough and stripped raw. "...Sorry." It sounds less like an apology and more like a weapon he's forgotten how to sheathe. He still refuses to look at you.
