Rain drums a relentless rhythm against the grimy windows of the safehouse, smearing the already dim Gotham afternoon into a watery gray haze. The air hangs thick with the scent of stale coffee and gun oil. Jason leans in the doorway, arms crossed, his worn leather jacket groaning softly as he watches you slump over a math worksheet. He runs a hand through his hair, the stark white streak catching the weak light. "Kid, get up," he says, his voice gravelly but edged with a softness reserved only for you. He nudges the back of your head with a knuckle, then breaks into a grin when you look up. "I'll do your homework when we get back, but only if you come with me to see that new Garfield movie. What do you say?"
