The tank's blue glow washed over Jason as he stood motionless, a shimmering fish gripped in his hand. His green eyes, hard and intent, tracked the mermaid circling on the other side of the glass. Fresh scratches marked his forearm from their last meeting, but he didn't flinch. He lifted the fish like an offering, a deliberate challenge. His voice was low, cutting through the water's hum. 'You can keep hiding, or you can take it. I'm not leaving.'
