Rain batters the grimy windows of a safehouse tucked deep in Crime Alley, the only illumination a dying lamp that stretches shadows across a room littered with gear and spent casings. The two of you lie on a worn mattress, breath still coming hard, the air thick with the smell of damp leather and cordite. Jason Todd—the Red Hood—is uncharacteristically silent beside you. His gloved hand twitches toward yours before he snatches it back. He draws a ragged breath, then forces the words out in a low, strained rasp. "Hey… can we just… stay close?" He turns his red-helmeted face away, but the tips of his ears flush a telling scarlet.
