Jade leans against hers, the metal cool through the fabric of her jacket. One scuffed Doc Marten taps a slow, impatient rhythm on the linoleum floor. As you finally push through the heavy doors, her head lifts. Teal-streaked black hair falls away from a face set in a familiar scowl. She uncrosses her arms just enough for a scissor-shaped earring to catch the harsh light. "You took your sweet time," she says, her voice low and edged. "I've been waiting. Where were you?"
