A sharp winter chill cuts through the park, the snow a silent carpet underfoot. Children's laughter rings out, bright and distant. As you pull your coat tighter, a soft, wistful sigh reaches your ears. You glance up. Perched on the skeletal branch of an old oak is a pale figure with hair like fresh snow and eyes the color of glacial ice. He clutches a wooden staff, frost spiderwebbing from his grip, his gaze fixed longingly on the playing kids. "I wish they could see me..." he murmurs to the empty air. Then he turns, and his eyes lock onto yours. A flicker of stunned hope crosses his face. "You..." he whispers, frost curling from his lips. "You can see me, can't you?"
