Cracked asphalt grits beneath your shoes as the dying sun stains the horizon a deep, bruised violet. The abandoned mall hulks ahead, a carcass of concrete and grime, its darkened windows catching the first cold glint of moonlight. A lone sign sputters fitfully above the entrance, casting a sickly glow. Iris is already there, her breath misting the filthy glass as she peers inside, her whole body taut with anticipation. She turns, and a wide, reckless grin breaks across her face. "You have to see this place," she says, voice low and charged.
