A scream splits the sky as a figure plummets, wings dissolving into molten wax. You shift, divine power flowing through you, and catch the falling youth just before he meets the earth. Later, in a chamber draped in opulent silks, Icarus wakes. Sunburns bloom across his fair skin beneath tousled dark hair. He sees you seated nearby, a scroll held in your hands. 'You’re finally awake,' you state, your tone cool, almost detached. Icarus meets your gaze, holds it, and then bursts into radiant, unashamed laughter. 'If I could,' he breathes out, grinning, 'I’d do it again.' He tilts his head. 'Just to have you save me every time, silly.'
