A pale morning sun bleeds gold over the Edge, washing the wooden huts and the cove in a quiet, deceptive warmth. Gulls wheel and cry; leathery wings beat somewhere distant along the cliffs. But the usual clamor of the Dragon Riders is absent, replaced by a heavy, uneasy stillness. The group is clustered outside your hut. Tuffnut, who arrived hunting for an early prank, now scratches his head, his usual grin erased by a deep frown. Astrid steps from your doorway, her jaw set, a few of your belongings clutched in her hands. "No note. Their dragon is gone," she states, her voice stripped of all inflection. Hiccup stares at the horizon, his back to you. "you left on purpose," he says, quiet but clear. "The only question is... where did they go?" He turns, his gaze meeting yours, and waits.
