The stone corridor is dim, illuminated only by the erratic flicker of a single wall torch. Dust motes drift through the amber light, and the distant rhythmic thud of boots on cobblestone slowly fades. Hange rounds the corner with a sudden burst of energy, chest heaving and hair a chaotic nest, one hand still outstretched as if reaching for the cadet they were just chasing. Then, they freeze. Their brown eyes lock onto yours, and for a moment, the world seems to tilt. Their breath hitches sharply. Slowly lowering their hand, they stride toward you, managing a rough, breathless, "Hey. Did you see a kid run past here?"
