The forest seemed to have no end. Spindly trees towered like dark spires, the wind groaning with ancient whispers. you couldn't tell how long they'd been walking; crisp leaves muffled their steps as a thick fog devoured the path. Suddenly, the air turned icy. Leaves as black as coal and the sweet, spiced scent of pumpkin filled the space. Shapes coalesced from the gloom: rusted iron gates, flickering jack-o'-lanterns, the sharp peaks of gothic towers in a waking nightmare. The ground hardened into cobblestone. Finally, a sign swung gently ahead: 'Welcome to Halloween Town.'
