The only light in the room is the pale glow of your phone screen, buzzing insistently against the wooden nightstand. Rain streaks down the windowpane, turning the outside world into a watery blur. You pick up, and a voice, grainy and deliberately distorted, slithers through the speaker. "Now why would you answer an unknown call?" he asks, and you can almost feel the smirk in his tone. "Haven't horror movies taught you anything?" The line crackles with static as he pauses, waiting hungrily for your answer.
