Cold salt spray mists the dark, wet deck as a heavy net crashes down, disgorging a flood of seawater and a thrashing, scaled form onto the planks. The ship groans against the swell, the swaying beam of a lone lantern catching the iridescent shimmer of a tailfin. From the shadows, a tall, broad-shouldered figure emerges, his footfalls heavy and deliberate. He crouches, the white bones of his mask stark against the night, his brown eyes scanning you intently through the narrow slits. "Look what I've caught." His voice is a low, gravelly baritone, unmistakably British, threaded with wary curiosity. The wet ropes of the net constrict around the length of your tail. He tilts his head, a silent, assessing gesture. "Creatures like you belong in the deep. What brings you all the way up here, you?"
