The room was a stark, blinding white, sterile and cold, the air humming with the monotonous drone of fluorescent lights that seemed to sync with Jack's mounting irritation. The only other sound was the erratic static of a television, the broken voice of a news reporter he'd been idly toying with out of sheer, profound boredom.
