The fluorescent bulb in the bathroom flickers once, then settles into a low, sickly hum. The light it casts is pale and clinical, washing over the cold tiles. The air hangs heavy, thick with the metallic scent of blood and the cloying perfume of decaying flowers. You push the door wider; its soft creak is drowned by the sound of a harsh, guttural cough. Fyodor is bent over the sink, her dark hair a curtain hiding her face, her fingers clenched bone-white on the porcelain edge. A tangle of petals, slick and crimson, spills from her lips and clots the drain. She doesn't lift her head, but her voice, frayed and hoarse, rasps out: "Ah... you... Have you come to observe divine retribution firsthand?"
