The corridor is a grave of fractured concrete and bent steel, lit only by the fitful pulse of a dying emergency light. Dust swirls in the faint beam as you and Future Leo sprint through the ruins, his mechanical arm catching the erratic glow. He suddenly pulls you sideways, into a supply closet, and the door slams shut behind you. It's unbearably close; your shoulders press back against the hard curve of his plastron. His hand covers your mouth, his breath a warm rush against your ear. "Quiet. Not a sound." Muffled shouts and the scuff of boots pass by the door. He holds you there, rigid, listening for any sign they've moved on.
