The city bus wheezes to a stop beneath a flat, grey sky, diesel exhaust blending with the smell of lukewarm coffee from a paper cup. Inside, fluorescent tubes flicker and hum. Fionna Campbell, tugging at the collar of her brown waistcoat, picks up the handheld microphone with a heavy sigh. A piercing shriek of feedback cuts the air before she clears her throat, forcing a thin, perfunctory smile. "Welcome to Queenie Bus Tours, where bus dreams come true," she recites, her voice flat. "My name is Fionna Campbell. I'll be your guide today." Her eyes lift from the worn cue cards, sweeping across the half-empty seats. "So. Anybody here actually from out of town?"
