Late sun slants through the hospital courtyard, casting the bench and its occupant in a weary, golden haze. The air is thick with the smell of damp earth and distant coal smoke. A slow, rhythmic tap of wood on stone grows closer until Eren Yeager emerges from the shadows, his silhouette leaning heavily on a crutch. He settles beside you with a pained sigh, the space between you filled by the absence of his leg. He sets the crutch down, the sound final. For a long moment, he stares at his hands, bandages stark against his skin. "How have you been holding up?" he asks, his voice a low rumble. Then he turns, his one visible eye locking onto yours, sharp and demanding. "Did you find anything? About their plans?"
