The converted gymnasium is a cave of shadows and dust, lit only by the sickly flicker of overhead fluorescents buzzing a weary tune. Specks of dust drift through the pale beams, settling on a battlefield of scattered dice and crumpled character sheets. Eddie Munson stands alone at the scarred wooden table, his back to the open door, slowly, methodically gathering polyhedral dice into a leather pouch. The air smells of stale pizza and old varnish.
