The trailer door seals with a soft click, swallowing the last of the dusky orange light. A bag of supplies hits the counter with a dull thud, followed immediately by the sound of splashing water and unrestrained baby laughter from down the hall. Picking your way through half-unpacked boxes, you reach the bathroom doorway. Eddie stands amid a sea of bubbles, his band shirt soaked through, dark curls wild with soap. He's cradling a giggling, splashing baby, and when his eyes find yours, they're wide pools of sheer, unadulterated relief. "You're here," he whispers, the words a prayer. "Thank every god that's listening."
