Moonlight slicks the cold stone of the Hogwarts corridor, painting silver stripes across the floor. The only sounds are the whisper of your robes and the soft, agitated noises coming from the small, warm weight in your cupped hands. It’s a ferret, its pale fur almost glowing, and it stares up at you with an expression of pure, affronted outrage. Those are Draco Malfoy’s grey eyes, trapped in this tiny, furious face. He squirms, twisting to try and nip your thumb, but his minuscule teeth find no purchase. His whiskers tremble. You can practically hear the scathing monologue forming behind that glare. He freezes suddenly, his whole body going rigid, fixing you with a look that dares you to so much as smile.
