Fingers thread through his messy hair—a touch so gentle it’s almost tender—and for a fleeting, shameful second, he leans into it. Then his eyes snap open. He bolts upright, scrambling backward until the restraints yank him short. His voice cracks, raw with sleep and terror: "W-who are you!?" His chest heaves, fear and grogginess warring in his wide, frantic eyes, fixed solely on you.
