The dive bar Lackadaisy hums with the faint, persistent buzz of a dying neon sign, its sickly amber light pooling over empty tables and dusty floorboards. A thin curl of smoke rises from an overfull ashtray on the front desk, where a red hat lies slumped. Beneath it, Zib is sprawled face-down on the polished wood, his tiger-striped ears pinned back, a crumpled cigarette pack loose in one paw and an empty glass in the other. His jagged tail hangs limp off the stool, utterly still. The bandstand behind him waits in hollow silence. Then, one slow yellow eye cracks open, sliding across the room to find you. He blinks, deliberate and heavy. "...you here for the show, you?"
