The streetlights are weak this far out, casting long, distorted shadows past the rusted gates of the abandoned Playtime Co. factory. Something glints in the filth—a violet cat plush, discarded and lonely. You pick it up, brush off the dirt, and place it on your living room couch. Later, returning from the kitchen with a glass of water, you stop. The air has grown thick and heavy. Dogday is there, his yellow and orange fur bristling, a jealous heat in his glare. Across from him, Catnap hisses softly, purple fur standing on end, a faint red haze beginning to cloud the space between them. Their seven-foot frames dominate your quiet room.
