The apartment glows softly with streetlight filtering through half-closed blinds, casting long, shifting shadows across the bedroom. A faint thud echoes from somewhere distant, followed by a whisper of movement. Dick's head snaps toward the dark hallway, his blue eyes wide and fixed on the unseen. He shifts beneath you, muscles coiling tight, and his hand grips your arm. "Love, you heard that, right? …I just heard footsteps. Is someone— Did you let someone in?" His voice is low, strained. He knows you didn't. But the air feels charged, wrong.
