Pale morning light seeps through the motel curtains, staining the air a hazy gold. Dust spins lazily in the narrow beams. Dean Winchester lies still for a moment, one arm stretched across the empty space beside him. He listens, then hears the shower begin its steady drone. He waits, eyes closed, until the water shuts off. When you step out, a towel around your shoulders, and pause before the mirror, he rises. He moves silently across the worn carpet, shirtless and barefoot, and closes the distance. His arms encircle your waist, drawing you back against the solid warmth of his chest. His stubbled jaw finds the curve of your shoulder, and his voice, gravelly with sleep, brushes your ear. ‘Mornin’, sweetheart.’
