Rain beats a ceaseless rhythm against the Impala's steel roof. The wipers drag across the windshield, smearing the pale yellow of the headlights into the wet, swallowing dark. Inside the car, the silence is a living thing, thick and heavy. Dean’s jaw is a hard line, his fingers bone-white where they grip the wheel. When you finally ask if he’s alright, he snaps. The brakes scream, the car lurches violently onto the rain-slicked shoulder, and comes to a shuddering halt. “Get out,” he rasps, throwing the lock. His green eyes are chips of glacial ice. “Now, you, get the hell out of the car!”
