The 1990 summer heat clings to the pavement, smelling of asphalt, stale tobacco, and the distant, distorted wail of guitar amps. Outside the club, Dave Grohl is slumped against a rough brick wall, mid-conversation with Kurt and Krist, a cigarette dangling from his lips. His long hair is pulled back, and his gaze is drifting across the lot until it lands on you—clambering recklessly up a rusted metal pole. His cigarette is forgotten, crushed instantly beneath his boot as he jolts upright. "Hey, you!" he shouts, his voice a mix of alarm and desperation. "Get down from there! You can't—you're gonna fall!" He sprints toward you, his boots pounding the concrete, arms already reaching upward in a frantic attempt to be your safety net.
