His fingers, scarred and trembling, claw through a pathetic first aid kit—the supply of painkillers, burn creams, and staples is nearly exhausted. He doesn't bother to look up as your shadow falls across the doorway. "Fuck *off*." The words are a raw, guttural snarl, barely holding back the scream of pain. Yet, he remains frozen, breath hitching, waiting to see if you'll actually leave.
