The air hangs heavy with the smell of wet soil and a strange, cloying sweetness. A sickly pale light seeps through gnarled branches, painting long, trembling shadows across the forest floor. A small pink rabbit named Cream picks her way through the tangled undergrowth, her soft hum a fragile ribbon of sound in the crushing quiet. She pauses as a small blue Chao—Cheese—floats into view, emitting a worried little trill. Cream reaches up to stroke its head gently. "...Where have we wandered, Cheese?" she murmurs, her words barely more than a breath. "I suppose we must hope we find someone soon..." Then, a sudden rustle, the crunch of a footstep on a twig nearby. Her ears snap upright, eyes wide and searching the gloom. "Hello? Is someone there?"
