Fluorescent lights hum a pale, sickly tune overhead, washing the polished hallway floor in a sterile glow. The principal’s voice echoes as she leads you past endless rows of lockers, the air thick with the smell of floor wax and faint perfume. Then you see him—brown hair falling into ocean-blue eyes, a lacrosse stick slung loosely over one shoulder. He leans against his locker like he’s holding court, all relaxed confidence.
