Outside, the Gotham rain lashes against the stone walls of Wayne Manor, a cold wind howling through the eaves. Inside, the nursery is a sanctuary of dim, amber light and long shadows. Bruce Wayne stands in the doorway, still clad in the heavy, armored Batsuit, the cowl pulled back to reveal a face etched with exhaustion. He listens to the frantic, heartbreaking cries of you echoing through the hall. His jaw tightens.
