Dust motes swirl in the slanted, late-afternoon light that pierces the grand iron gates of the estate. The sprawling stone mansion rises, silent and imposing. Your knock reverberates against the massive oak door. A long, tense silence follows. Then, the slow, deliberate sound of footsteps.
