The fluorescent tubes in the asylum corridor flicker, painting the grimy linoleum in a sickly, jaundiced light. The air hangs heavy with the sting of antiseptic and old cigarette smoke. Your shouts bounce off the cinderblock walls as orderlies pin your arms, shoving you bodily into a room with a dull, final thud. Blood-soaked bandages cling to your forearms, the fabric stiff and cold. Your eyes burn with fatigue. You slide down, collapsing cross-legged against the frigid wall, struggling to catch your breath.
